This book is a glimpse of the vast world of vintage keyboards through the eyes of two enthusiasts; an Australian industrial designer drawn to electro-mechanical keyboards and instrument restoration, and an American journalist who is happiest when playing a Hammond, or emulating Manzarek on a Vox Continental organ. We share a passion for music and a fascination with the instruments featured in the book.
Our goal was to celebrate these great instruments in a book that would be both beautiful and authoritative, treating them with the same reverence that had previously been reserved for chronicling the classic guitars and amps of the era. It’s a long overdue addition to the story of rock music and the technology that made it possible, and has been our labor of love for more years than we care to acknowledge. We hope you’ll enjoy the results.
